Welcome to The Square Enix Wiki

Featured Article

Featured Article is an article from the Square Enix Wiki that is exemplary in following the Manual of Style and other site policies. Anyone can nominate an article to be featured, provided the article follows these requirements:

  • The article must follow the Manual of Style and other formatting rules on the wiki
  • The article cannot have maintenance tags
  • The article cannot be nominated to be featured more than twice in a row.
  • The article cannot have previously been featured
  • The article cannot be in the same category as the previous three featured articles.

If you're looking to update the Featured Article as seen on the Main Page, go here.

Categories

These are the categories of articles that can be featured. Remember that when nominating an article, the article cannot be from the same categories as the previous three featured articles.

  • Corporate
  • Games
  • Series
  • Mangas
  • Wikis
  • Comics
  • Soundtrack
  • Other Merchandise
  • Films
  • People
  • Related Companies

Categories may be further expanded upon discussion by the community or if the wiki's coverage policy expands.

Voting

In order to vote for Featured Article, Users must have 150 mainspace edits on this wiki (check here, or 200 edits on a SEIWA member wiki. The process then goes as follows:

  1. Nominate an article on the Voting page.
  2. Please provide reasoning as to why you think an article is fit to be featured--remember, by featuring an article, you are presenting an article that represents the best work of its category. Whatever is nominated should be a model article for others that are similar to it. Also try to provide variety in your nomination--our goal is to balance out the "demographic" of articles above, not add more game articles.
  3. The community is open to discuss all nominations, voting for whichever nominated articles they prefer
  4. In the event of a tie, the former nominated article shall be featured first, and the latter nominated article shall be featured the following month. All voting restrictions for that month will roll over to the following month.
  5. On the final day of the month, a staff member will close the voting, and voting for the next month shall begin.

Featured Media

Featured Media is the place to show the artwork, images, and sounds on the Square Enix Wiki that make it an interesting and engaging experience for visitors. It will also encourage wiki members to improve the quality of existing works. Any media can be nominated to be featured on the Main Page, so long as it meets the following requirements:

  • The media should be appropriately high-quality. Images should be of good resolution with minimal or no artifacting, but not absurdly large. Sound clips should be clear and easy to hear, but not excessively long. It cannot contain watermarks, website labels, etc.
  • The media, like all things on the wiki, should be from official or officially-verified sources. No fan art, no matter how awesome.
  • The media nominated must be hosted in this wiki. Items hosted elsewhere, such as YouTube clips or hosted on other SEIWA member sites, are ineligible.
  • The media must meet any Manual of Style regulations and other policies regarding media, especially those regarding copyrights and fair use. This is especially true for sound files.

If you're looking to update the Featured Media on the Main Page, please go here.

PlayStation's official channels broadcast a 25-minute State of Play presentation dedicated to Final Fantasy XVI. The video showed off the game's combat and mechanics such as monster hunts in the vein of Final Fantasy XII, NPCs of the game's Hideaway area, along with announcing the theme song by Japanese singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu, known for his song "Kick Back", the opening theme to the anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man.

The full presentation can be watched here.

Microsoft Corporation held their annual Build developer's conference last week, and as part of enticing developers to make games for their new and upcoming Windows 10 OS, they asked Square Enix to make a small presentation using Microsoft's DirectX 12 technology, which will ship with the operating system. The presentation features a scene using elements from Final Fantasy XV, and the focus was largely on lighting, skin, and hair rendering. Hajime Tabata from Square Enix's Business Division II gave a small intro before the folks at Microsoft rolled the clip. The scene is actually really impressive.

You can check the clip out at WinBeta.org

Microsoft’s DirectX 12 will launch with Windows 10 later this year. Final Fantasy XV has been teased for a couple of years now and will release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, though no official date has been mentioned.

After over a week of consistent work and editing, I'm proud to unveil our new Main Page! This site has been growing in structure quite well over the last couple months, but it lacked in a decent Main Page. Now, we've got a face on our site that definitely makes it worthwhile people's visit to the site. We hope that with our new Main Page, people will be encouraged to stay on the wiki and help build it into the best resource on Square Enix on the internet!

Along with the new home page, we've got some exciting features to announce on the wiki! We now have a Featured Article and Featured Media, which are meant to run monthly (though with little content, we don't expect it to do so this early on). We also have a News Bulletin to post news from Square Enix, the Square Enix Wiki, and SEIWA. This is an exciting time for all of us here at SEIWA, and I hope the progress continues!.

To-Do List

  • Update Coverage policies to allow for in-game coverage of games/series not covered by an associated wiki.
  • Update all existing articles
  • Create necessary content categories
  • Purge unnecessary/unused templates
  • Update existing templates for current use
  • Update the Community Portal
