Serge is accompanied by Kid, a teen-aged thief, and Gil, a mysterious masked magician. The story is narrated by Serge's grandchild. The story of ''Radical Dreamers'' is a side story to ''Chrono Trigger'' wrapping up a loose end from its ''Chrono Trigger'''s plot.
