Balan Wonderland is an upcoming action-platform game co-developed by Square Enix and Arzest, and published by Square Enix. Created by the newly formed Balan Company division of Square Enix, which was founded by Sonic the Hedgehog creators Yuji Naka and Naoto Oshima, the title is set to release in Spring 2021.
Story
Leo Craig and Emma Cole find the whimsical world of Wonderworld through a mysterious theater, and are led by the enigmatic Balan through the world to restore happiness and balance the hearts of those there.[1]
Gameplay
Playing as either Leo or Emma, players will navigate through a variety of unique environments and find over 80 different costumes. The costumes change Leo and Emma's appearances that grant additional powers to overcome obstacles in the levels.[1]
Development
Balan Wonderworld was announced during the Xbox Games Showcase pre-show on July 23, 2020, with director Yuji Naka and character designer Naoto Oshima from Sega's 1991 title Sonic the Hedgehog. It was announced for release in Spring 2021.
